InGaN LEDs for General Lighting: Overcoming Efficiency Droop at High Current Injection

Nicolas Andrade PictureNicolas Andrade is pursuing a double major in electrical engineering and physics at VCU. Regarding his research interests, he has been working with Dr. Ümit Özgür since his senior year in high school, conducting research in the design, fabrication, and characterization of light emitting diodes (LEDs). He also attended summer programs at Harvard University in 2014 and at CERN in 2015, creating a new fabrication process for lithium niobate and writing trigger algorithms for the large hadron collider, respectively. Additionally, he was awarded the Goldwater Scholarship in 2014, which awards financial aid to college sophomores and juniors interested in pursuing academic careers in STEM fields.
